Vitality Update 11.22.19

The ECC has laid out ten identifying characteristics of a Healthy, Missional Church. By "healthy” we mean pursuing Christ. By “missional” we mean pursuing Christ’s priorities in the world. These characteristics are called the "Ten Healthy Missional Markers". Over the course of these Vitality emails, we will look at these ten markers, and consider how they apply to our church life, if we see them in our church life, and how you can live into the calling of each marker.
Marker #3: Culture of Godly Leadership
“Remember your leaders, those who spoke the word of God to you; consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.” – Hebrews 13:7
A church that has a Culture of Godly Leadership as a healthy missional marker can say the following:
- "Our leaders at all levels serve with character, competence, and conviction. A spirit of collegiality pervades, with our people trusting our leaders and our leaders trusting our people. We continually identify and train Godly leaders for all dimensions of our ministry."
A sign of a church that is full of Vitality, is a church where gifts are identified in all believers, and encouraged to be used, trained up, and placed in places of leadership for the glory of God.
Questions for Personal Reflection:
- Is this Healthy Missional Marker (Culture of Godly Leadership) a strength for Messiah Church? If so, where do you see it in the life of the church today? If not, how have you seen that failed leadership in the life of the church and how could it be addressed?
- How have you seen new Godly leaders raised up and trained to be a part of the church?
- Pray that God would continue allow us to be Godly and just in our relationships with each other. Pray that God would raise up leaders, lead by the Holy Spirit, to lead us to where God is taking us next. Pray for unity in the body to seek the Lord together by one Spirit.
