First John 2.28-3.10: Familienähnlichkeit
Main Idea: As the children of God, we should bear a resemblance to our Lord.
-
In today’s passage we see that Christ is righteous (2:29), pure (3:3), and sinless (3:5) AND that we will be like him.
-
How does that reality make you feel?
-
In what ways can we live out this standard that we will have one day, in today’s life?
-
-
What are the reasons that we have heard so far that we can be “confident” before God? Do you always feel confident before God? If not, what are the things that take away your confidence?
-
How does John compare the work of God to the work of the devil in this passage? What does each seek to accomplish? Who will be the ultimate victor?
Practice: This week, do what John commands in 3:1: contemplate how great the love of God is for us that we should become his children.
-
MEMORIZE First John 3:1 (See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!)
-
READ John 3:1-21 and compare what Jesus says about being born again to being a child of God.
-
PRAY that, as a child of God, you can further develop a strong resemblance to our Lord in righteousness, purity and sinlessness.
